PAM and MECPAM
PAM (pull-out assist mechanism) is a bracket assembly for deploying heavier masts while supporting their weight. The PAM main components are inner and outer square tubes, friction clutch and clamp for holding the mast. The outer tube is used to mount the assembly to the shelter wall of the roof of the transport vehicle. The inner tube is connected to the mast clamp by a spring loaded friction clutch and is extended or retracted by means of roller wheels.
The MecPAM is a mechanically driven PAM system designed to deploy larger masts with heavier head loads. It is recommended for use with TM 170 and above mast series.
The MecPAM main component is a telescopic square tube operated by a screw drive. The outer square tube is used to mount the assembly to the shelter wall or the roof of the transport vehicle. The inner square tube interfaces with the mast. A worm gear is used to rotate the mast from horizontal transport position to vertical and a rack gear hoist and lowers the mast to compensate for uneven ground conditions.
Tilting of the mast is performed with a rigging screw that can compensate for a vehicle roll of 10%. All movements of the mast are locked by mechanical gear or screw drives which makes it possible to safely handle high loads.
