Lerc SAS, the French subsidiary of Comrod Communication ASA was in February 2007 selected by the French Ministry of Defence (DGA) as a supplier to the MIDS/Terre program running over several years. Lerc delivers into a part of the program coordinated by Thales Group.
Lerc has now been awarded two new contracts from Thales Group for delivery to this program during 2009. Total value of the contracts awarded now is 3.7 million Euro (corresponding to 33.1 million kroner). Thales has an option to amend the contract with another 1.1 million Euro (9.8 million kroner).
The new contracts for delivery of telescopic masts and related systems and services follow Lerc’s successful 1.7 million Euro delivery of one prototype mast and several pre-serial masts to the MIDS program during 2008. “We are very pleased to receive these new orders for the MIDS projectâ€, says CEO Niklas Hermansson of Comrod Communication Group. “This again underlines the Groups ability to deliver communication solutions adapted to the current and future trend of modern defence communicationâ€.
MIDS is a communications, navigation, and identification system intended to exchange surveillance and command and control information among various communication platforms and weapons platforms to enhance varied missions of each of the Services. MIDS is the next generation Joint Tactical Information System terminal. In addition to France, USA, Spain and some other countries also participate in the program.
